It looks very much to take, but you get the hang of what each of herbs and spices can contribute to their plates as they become familiar with the combinations of different flavors. The best way to learn how to use seasonings to create a sauce or a dish that is familiar. Once you've gotten the "normal" flavor, wasting time to create a flavor that suits you. For example, try to make spaghetti sauce from scratch rather than buy things already done in a jar.
