Brown bears once inhabited the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska in large numbers. However, due to a decrease as the habitat of the grizzly bear is on the list of endangered animals. The Kenai Peninsula is being developed for residential uses, commercial and recreational and is therefore reducing the chances of survival of grizzly bears in Alaska. Human development is to make this sublime creature of his house and leave that no options for survival, since taking over. It was once thought that Alaska will always be a sanctuary for these animals, but there seems no place to measure destructive reach of humankind.

The technique in which the game is impressive, since swoop in at high speeds and extreme angles. They are powerful predators in Alaska. However, there have been less abundant not only in Alaska but in all the places they live from Mexico to Alaska, due to ingestion of pesticides. The most commonly is known pesticide DDT, and while there have been efforts to reduce and possibly eliminate the use of DDT American peregrine falcon is to decorate the horizon of Alaska is much lower.
The Greenland whale has made both the list of endangered species in Alaska and the federal list of endangered species. The bowhead whales live only in and around Arctic waters. However, due to commercial whaling of bowhead whales in the waters around Alaska is a rare spectacle. The bowhead whale was declared an endangered species in 1973 and since commercial whaling ceased. However, the figures are not yet reassuring.
Sea otters, which reside in the coastal waters of Alaska, were near extinction in the 18th and 19th century due to hunting. There was a courageous recovery only to be put at the federal and Alaska from the list of species threatened with extinction in the 1990s. However, there is some controversy in the degree of threat are, as they seem to be thriving in areas of southeast Alaska.
The stellar sea lion is listed as a species Alaska federal concern, an endangered species. Stellar sea lions are a big label. The cause of the decrease in stellar sea lions is unknown about although there were no disease, environmental conditions and more.
It is easy to see Alaska as in the past is disappearing due to destructive touch of humanity. There have been several organizations set up to assist in the restoration of species such as those mentioned in this article, but the question is whether it is sufficient to halt the demise of this world before it is too late.

![]() National Geographic's America's Endangered Species: Don't Say Good-Bye [VHS] List Price: Sale Price: $9.94 You save: $10.01 (50%) Eligible for free shipping!Availability: Usually ships in 1-2 business days See Reviews For This Product DescriptionPhotographer Susan Middleton and David Liittschwager are in a race against the clock to capture powerful portraits of America's most threatened creatures. Join them on their unforgettable adventure that takes them from the California Sierra to the deep South, from the woods of North Carolina to the Pacific's shores. Along the way, they encounter a camera-shy Black-Footed ferret, capture the beauty of the golden trout, help release a pair of red wolves back to the wild, and watch from a front-row seat as a bald eagle chick is returned its cliffside nest. Their every picture tells a story...and makes a plea: DON'T SAY GOOD-BYE to America's natural treasures. The folks at National Geographic, with the help of narrator James Woods, take us on a zigzag road trip across the U.S. in this 1997 documentary. We follow photographers Susan Middleton and David Liitschwager, who gave up their earlier pursuits (museum and fashion photography, respectively) to capture on film the rarest fauna and flora of the North American continent. A selection of these pictures was published in their book, Witness: Endangered Species of North America. This hour-long film takes us from a black-footed ferret breeding farm in Wyoming to Florida manatee pools to the Presidio in San Francisco where we see a plant that is so rare, only one exists and its exact location is a government secret. The portraiture is vibrant and truly stunning and the film is interspersed with interview clips of scientific luminaries such as Harvard's Edward O. Wilson. Despite a subject matter that is necessarily depressing, America's Endangered Species: Don't Say Good-Bye outlines a few recovery success stories and highlights the efforts of individuals throughout the U.S. who are determined to make sure that these species are around for future generations of National Geographic fans. --Douglas Dalrymple |

![]() Kindness to Animals List Price: See Reviews For This Product DescriptionMany books have been written about animals, and very good books too, giving a great deal of information. Most of them are called works of Natural History; and they usually give some description of the birds and beasts, fishes and insects, that are known to man. I am not going to write such a book as that; but to say a little about different kinds of creatures that we are all in the habit of seeing, and to tell you a few things of some which have belonged to me, or have come under my own observation; so that, at least, I can promise to write nothing but what I know to be true. I have not learned their characters and habits from books, but by watching them ever since I was a very young child; and many a happy hour I have spent in that delightful employment. |
