I searched desperately need a prescription ..... Paula Deen?
The other day the snack made with chicken breasts that had been diced and then wrapped cubes of raw bacon, secured with a scewer, and then wrapped in a mixture of brown sugar and chile powder either hot or something. I have not had much of either brown sugar or spice used. I can not find the recipe, whether in food or networ.com pauladeen.com ...... can someone help? Thanks!

With the economy put pressure on the budgets of many families' food, I thought it would be a good time to perform some of the old pan food fads in my collection of recipes vintage. These meals are easy and inexpensive, and make family meals. Old Fashion 'N' Franks Kraut Goulash with noodles, or vice versa Pie Chile offer taste of the past and a variety of tastes. The kraut skillet also has potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, etc making it a complete meal. The goulash ground beef used to allows you to stretch your budget of meat. The plant combines chile cake, again, cheaper ground beef, corn, muffin mix, etc. I like to sauce that gives a taste of Tex-Mex.
FRANKS Old Fashion 'N' KRAUT
This recipe is a very old central church meetings of books kitchen.
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion
1 green pepper
1 pound whole tomatoes, peeled
3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
1.2 cup water
2 medium carrots, sliced
1 pound sauerkraut
1 package pound sausage, quartered
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 4 teaspoon pepper
Melt the butter and cook onion and bell pepper until tender. Add tomatoes, water, carrots, sauerkraut, brown sugar, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 30 to 35 minutes. Add the sausages, place the cover and simmer another 10 minutes.
Goulash with noodles
Another old recipe from my early years of growth in southern Indiana.
4 oz fine noodles
1 / 2 cup chopped onion
1 / 2 cup tomato sauce
1 jar sliced mushrooms
2 teaspoon salt
1 can tomatoes
1 / 4 teaspoon pepper
1 pound ground beef
2 cups sliced celery
Cook noodles in salted water until just tender when fried ground beef and onion in large skillet. When meat is browned and onion is tender, drain fat. Stir in noodles, celery, tomato sauce, drained mushrooms, tomato, salt and pepper. Cover pan and simmer for 30 to 35 minutes.
CHILE SKI BACKWARDS
This is a recipe I've had since leaving the Air Force and moved Indiana around 1970.
1 tablespoon salad oil or olive
1 1 / 2 ground Freestyle Silver
1 / 2 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon chile powder
1 1 / 4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 / 2 teaspoon dried basil
1 can (8.25 ounces) tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8.50 ounces) red kidney beans, drained
1 / 2 cup red wine *
1 package (12 ounces) corn muffin mix
1 can (8.75 ounces) cream-style corn
1 egg
1 / 4 cup milk
1.4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Chopped parsley
Ketchup
Heat oil in a hot heavy skillet 10 inches. Saute meat, onion and garlic until meat is browned - about 5 minutes.
Add the chile powder, salt, oregano, basil and tomatoes and mix well. Simmer, covered, 30 minutes. Stir in beans and wine and cook for 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine corn muffin mix, corn, egg and milk and mix until the mixture becomes moist muffin.
Skim fat from mix meat in the pan and discard. Spread mixture over meat evenly ixture bun.
Bake 25 minutes or until top is golden brown. Let stand in a pan for a couple of minutes. Invert pan onto a plate. Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve with tomato sauce.
Yield: 8 servings
* If you wish use wine, substitute water.
Note: Instead of tomato sauce, I like to use the sauce.
