Wow, my house is crazy, we have a basket of condiments to handle the table for every meal! Black pepper in a pepper mill, salt, ground red pepper, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and hot sauce. You never know when you want to go a little crazy!
Low Sodium Diet - 7 Tips to avoid and suggestions from 7 to do when eating out
When you are on a low sodium diet and want to eat at a restaurant there are some foods to keep in mind and some foods that you should look. There are also some things you can do to help your food more tasty and yet follow a diet low in sodium.
Suggestions of what foods to avoid when eating out in a diet low in sodium:
1. Avoid condiments, or at least be easy with them: ketchup, mustard, pickles, olives, hot sauce, gravy, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, etc, as these can be very high in sodium.
2. Avoid butter or margarine, restaurants rarely use without salt. A pat of butter may be 100 mg of sodium. Whipped butter is more easily spread, but sodium is almost the same as regular butter. It's butter that is beaten with water or milk and incorporate air. The restaurant can be available unsalted butter, especially if they have a bakery. Most bakeries using unsalted butter. You should ask, or try extra virgin olive oil.
3. Avoid foods that are battered and most breaded food or meal, as they are high in sodium. The flour is soft or flat flavor without salt, so most batters and bread crumbs and flour has salt in a glass, or salty foods when cooking, (sometimes both).
4. Avoid the bread more, at least limit, usually high in sodium and this includes white wheat, biscuits, corn bread, even. Note: Corn tortillas are usually (not always) made without salt and sodium.
5. Avoid soups, salsas, sauces or salad dressings, because they are usually very high in sodium.
6. Avoid beans as they are usually high sodium.
7. Avoid processed foods or gourmet foods such as sausages, ham, hot dogs, sausages, turkey, even, especially if rolled or pressed.
Suggestions of what to do when you eat a diet low in sodium:
1. Choose simple meals (without sauce, gravy or bread crumbs).
2. Squeeze fresh lime or lemon about food, vegetables, salads or for a more intense flavor.
3. Only a few shakes of vinegar will help give the food a lift without salt.
4. Sal Many people do not use a lot of black pepper in their food to help the flavor. Ask freshly ground pepper black-pepper mill, where available.
5. Have no added salt when preparing food.
6. Request that no MSG (monosodium glutamate) added to food.
7. Take a salt substitute with you to the restaurant.
Always ask your waiter or waitress for suggestions low in sodium. They are very aware of what they offer, or what may be prepared as a choice of diet low in sodium. more and more restaurants are doing low-sodium diet options available, because people are asking for them.
The best restaurant or higher price usually have a lower (not low, but less) of sodium foods, and to buy better quality food. The cheapest restaurants tend to be higher in sodium. Avoid most restaurant chains. The menu tends to be high in sodium if you are an expensive restaurant or not, as the salty flavor is what most people want. Forget fast food, because they are usually very high in sodium.
By following a low sodium diet, you still want to enjoy life. Part of enjoying life is the social event of going out to dinner with friends and family and not feel excluded. Hopefully these tips will help you follow a low sodium diet and still enjoy your food when eating out.

Dr. Loren Cordain’s easy-to-follow diet plan cuts right to the chase." –Jack Challem, coauthor of Syndrome X: The Complete Nutritional Program to Prevent and Reverse Insulin Resistance Healthy, delicious, and simple, the Paleo Diet is the diet you were designed to eat. If you want to lose weight–up to 75 pounds in six months–or if you want to attain optimal health, The Paleo Diet will do wonders for you. The world’s leading expert on Paleolithic (Stone Age) nutrition, Dr. Loren Cordain demonstrates how, by eating all the lean meats and fish, fresh fruits, and nonstarchy vegetables you want, you can lose weight and prevent and treat heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, Syndrome X, and many other illnesses. Over 100 delicious Paleo recipes provide enough flavor and variety to satisfy anyone, and the six weeks of Paleo meal plans get you started on a healthy and enjoyable new way of eating. Start reading and following The Paleo Diet today and eat your way to weight loss, weight control, increased energy, and lifelong health–while enjoying every delicious bite. According to author Loren Cordain, modern health and diet problems didn't start with the advent of packaged snack food, but much earlier--back at the dawn of the agricultural age many thousands of years ago. As humans became less nomadic and more dependent on high-carbohydrate diets, we left behind the diet we had evolved with, which is based on low-fat proteins and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Sugars, fats, and carbs were rare, if they were present at all, and survival required a steady, if low-key, level of activity. Cordain's book The Paleo Diet blends medical research with a healthy sprinkle of individual anecdotes, practical tips, and recipes designed to make his suggestions into a sustainable lifestyle, rather than a simple month-long diet; he even includes cooking recommendations and nationwide sources for wild game. Claims of improving diseases from diabetes to acne to polycystic ovary disease may be a little overstated, but in general the advice seems sound. Can any of us really go wrong by adding lots more vegetables and fruits to our daily regimen? One recommendation on safe tanning with a gradual reduction in sunscreen is surprising and not much detail is provided for safety issues that can accompany increased sun exposure. Still, Cordain's assertions have helped many people, and could provide exactly the changes you've been looking for to improve your health. --Jill Lightner Features

![]() Healing Psoriasis: The Natural Alternative List Price: Sale Price: $18.00 See Reviews For This Product DescriptionThis book proves that Psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin disease, as well as Eczema, can be alleviated, controlled and even healed in a natural way; that is, without the use of drugs, steroid creams, tar baths or even ultra-violet light. The book views psoriasis, as well as eczema, as originating in the intestinal tract. Looked at from the inside out, rather than from the outside in, a whole new approach to the disease evolves. This concept identifies the problem as a build up of toxins (poisons) in the system which make their way out through the skin, but does not originate in the skin. Dr. Pagano defines psoriasis as the external manifestation of the body's attempt to throw off internal toxins. Because of thin, porous, intestinal walls these toxic elements "seep" through the walls of the intestine (now referred to as "The Leaky Gut Syndrome"), causing a pollution of the lymphatic and blood circulatory system. The body then attempts to rid itself of these toxins by expelling them through the sweat glands. Dr. Pagano further emphasizes that a proper DIET and adequate ELIMINATIONS are a major part of the solution. This book proves the efficacy of this theory by documented case histories, patient affidavits and striking before and after photographs. |

Respectful and mindful of what people really want, "Somersizing is not about being physically perfect or unrealistically thin. It's about being the best you can be." Years ago, Suzanne Somers lost the chance to appear on a hit television series because she was "too chunky." That missed opportunity started her on a "diet roller coaster," trying all kinds of diets. Now Somers believes that diets and deprivation do not help people lose weight in the long-term. In Eat Great, Lose Weight, she explains the food-combining plan she calls "Somersizing": eliminate "funky foods" such as sugar ("my body's greatest enemy") and white flour; eat fruits alone on an empty stomach; eat proteins and fats with vegetables and without carbohydrates; eat carbohydrates with vegetables and without fat. Sommers presents 113 recipes that certainly don't resemble a traditional diet and might make a weight-loss expert's hair curl, such as Crispy Fried Eggplant and Mozzarella Finger Sandwiches, Flourless Cheese Souffle (with butter, eggs, cream cheese, and Gruyère cheese), and Grilled Pepper Steak with Herb Butter (trim the fat from the meat, but add both butter and olive oil). There's no nutritional breakdown, so you can't count fat or calories. Somers admits that "many experts will argue that food combining is a myth," but she says it works for her, and she credits it with trimming her down to 116 pounds, even though she eats "more than ever." |
