If growth outside, make sure that soil is well dug, leaving the earth below Plant loose and fluffy. Place under your compost plant can help with this.

Basil loves sunlight, at least six to eight hours a day. If you are planting this grass on the inside, make sure to put in a window. Basil not only as sunlight, does not like the cold, so if you are outside the plantation, try to avoid places where the cold winds come. That said, one should not even plant basil until daytime temperatures remain in the temperatures of 70 F. and night are above 50 degrees F. The seeds can be started inside 3-4 weeks before last spring frost date. Unlike many Mediterranean herbs, Basil likes rich soil and some do not like to be kept dry.

Save your basil plants at least ten feet away, if placement outside Basil likes Bush. You can make your utilization by plants simply pinch the tops once the plants reach about 6 "high. If you do not pinch or harvest, the plants grow tall and gangly, with few leaves and bolts to seed. You can continue your harvest long as there are leaves on the left in the plant to keep it going.

With manufacturing facilities abroad, try to keep the weeds out of basil plants. You can add compost around plant to help control weeds Away - The compost also help the plant retain moisture.

If growing Basil in containers or pots inside and then add a small amount of fertilizer every month or so. Be sure to keep the humidity level in your Basil if grown indoors. When watering, add to the base instead of pouring water on their leaves and stems.

Basil will put flowers if not often grown. Make sure to pinch the flowers appear, and this will help preserve the flavor and promote more leaf growth. Simply choosing a few leaves here and there as needed to keep production also basil for you. If you are saying, I do not like Basil that often, you can harvest basil for future use. Basil can be used fresh or dried. To dry Basil cut the stems at ground level and dry in a dehydrator or hang bunches of stems up to air dry in a warm room, this should take about a week. Once the leaves are dried you can remove the stems and store them in an airtight container up to dry for 12 months.

If you use your fresh basil, the harvest more vibrant green leaves with no blemishes or decay. You can layer basil leaves in damp paper towels and place them in a plastic bag the refrigerator for up to four days. I've been growing basil at home. How do I care for him?

I know you have to start the white flowers that grow, but can you just cut the stem where they are growing? Or is it just plucking better? I basil bushier. Cut the stem seems easier because these flowers grow so fast! Help!

you have to do more than pinch off the flowers ... should cut the stem below - if the flowers are growing the plant thinks it's time to turn to seed. pinch a little lower on the ground to cause a more vigorous growth. make sure you get enough sunlight and water fertelizer. You should let a couple of the plants turn to seed and replant seeds and - this way you will your basil to grow. good luck
