Difference between the onion (zero) and onion powder?

Obviously there is a difference in the consistency (flakes minced dust), but is there any DIF. if you crush the onion powder? I have several recipes for taco seasoning mix called chopped onion and garlic. When I or chopped & G is not mixed w / other ingredients, so I've been mixing or chopped & G powder. Just wondering if there would be no difference just using the onion & garlic powder to save the step of grinding myself. Of course, first was to determine the amount of chopped onion (1 / 4 c) becomes earth (3 Tblsp.). With recipes for taco seasoning are to make a dry mixing and therefore would not be using fresh garlic or onion. I'm doing for my family so no extra salt and other ingredients they put in the pre-packaged. Also I am sending missionaries abroad who have trouble finding the ingredients or mixtures. Thanks

The way that you are using, sprinkled with chopped dried ingredients, makes no difference. You're actually doing the onion and garlic powder as you thought.
