Is there a spice that could be used instead of cumin?

I like things I do not smoke, so I have not tried the cumin, but I love Mexican food. I really like the Adobo seasoning, either. Any other ideas? Cumin is a spice very different and I still try to use only a little.But lemon, garlic, oregano (Mexican non-Italian), avocado, pablano, boil the meat in homemade sauce before serving to absorb the flavor.
