Got your eye on the luxury wooden kitchen and the savings have been reserved, but do not know where to start planning your new kitchen. You hate your present kitchen and know you need a different design, but what? A kitchen is important to plan carefully - do not want to spend thousands of pounds on something that looks very good, but simply not functional.
Some companies will come round the kitchen to your home, make a plan and advise on the best available for the size of the room and both the form and your needs. If you're going to have a wood stove made by hand, the company will be able to adapt to the needs and room size, and even be able to make cabinets for niche as strangely. It's good when things if you plan to come before the house. Think about how to use the kitchen and which function to fulfill. Here are some considerations to help you with your planning: --
1.Style - When choosing a style of cooking, think of home. A modern kitchen with colorful furniture and plenty of stainless steel can not adapt to a thatched hut, or at home period. Think about your style too. There so many styles of units, appliances, countertops, sinks and handles to choose from that are bound to find the perfect match. Companies offering handmade kitchens be easily customized to find something that matches your style and the style of your home.
2.Entertaining - How is your kitchen used? Only you and your family or you entertain frequently. Think about your lifestyle. If you hold dinners often take much higher workspace, good size oven and hob, a dishwasher, a decent sized fridge / freezer and large refrigerator with a freezer, a laundry room and garage. Some people even have a dishwasher second! If you have a large kitchen and parties always end up in the kitchen, you may want to incorporate a central island for a bar area and seating area that can be used as a breakfast bar when you're not celebrating.
3.Storage - How storage you need depends on their individual habits. If you have a big dishwasher, you'll have extra dishes, glasses and cutlery to use when the rest is in the dishwasher. If you enjoy cooking and baking, you probably have an extensive collection baking, cooking utensils and gadgets, all requiring more storage space. There are many storage solutions - remove pantries, carousels corner, deep drawers for the kitchen, dishes display units, ceiling hanger Pan / dryer herbs, racks inside cabinet doors, etc. Think about how storage solutions can be incorporated into the design of your kitchen.
4.Cooking habits - If you enjoy cooking, you want a kitchen that allows you out this hobby. You want a good size bathroom, plenty of space for preparation work top, large kitchen and oven, you may want a large American refrigerator to house all fresh ingredients and the freezer if you cook in large batches. You may also want to think about the incorporation of elements such as racks spices in the kitchen.
5.Shopping - Are you the type of person that makes a big shop once or twice a month or do you shop a couple times a week? Thinking in their buying habits help you plan the right kind of kitchen. If you do department stores, which will require a large fridge freezer and plenty of space storage of cans and jars. If you do small shops often then not require as storage space.
Thinking about all these considerations help you plan a kitchen that not only look great, but also be functional and practical for your lifestyle.

KitchenArt Spice Carousel by V. Chrisman from ARLINGTON, WA, US on 2010-06-06 Very happy with product. Could not find this particular one in stores (Champagne Satin). Good price, fast service. Will probably buy a second one to stack.
Good by Michael Ringmasters Word from USA on 2010-06-04 I really enjoy the usefulness of this product, along with its look. I do not seem to have any "loose" problems or spill/leaking problems like others have mentioned. Only issue with that occasionally is if you have a very very fine powder in it it may seep out slightly under, but I've yet to have a mess from it.Unfortunately some spices don't come out well from it, either from caking (if a powder) or being to large to measure out well (some herbs) Overall I love this product. It looks great, works well, and saved me nearly an entire cupboard, since I now have my spices hanging under it!
kitchen art 57010 pro auto measure carousel by Carrie L. Vollrath from on 2010-05-24 I really like this carousel, I have two stacked together and they fit in my cupboard perfectly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I miss the shaker top.
Spice Carousel by krod from Philadelphia, PA on 2010-04-24 This is an interesting concept, but not the best product. Sometimes spices clump up and the measuring part can be hard to turn. Is decorative, though.
love it by Brandi L. Scott from Plano, TX on 2010-02-07 This really is a great product. It's probablay more than I should have spent (I bought two and they are stackable - how cool is that?) price-wise but it really is a cool product.

Useful spices, great price by K. Reese from Rochester, NY on 2010-06-17 I'm really pleased with this spice rack. It's full of things that I'll use (the only weird spice is 'Savory,' and I did a little googling as well as taste testing... I think I can probably find something to put that on too) from your basic spices up to herbs de provence and steak seasoning.
I'm satisfied with the quality of the spice rack. It spins easily, fits the spices well, and seems pretty solid. It's definitely not made out of the highest quality parts, but the metal doesn't seem flimsy, nor does the plastic support for the spices. I think it's a great deal for the price.
Great spices, nice rack, well worth buying by JLee from Chicago, IL USA on 2009-10-05 I hadn't cooked in ages when my situation changed and it was time to dust off the cookbooks. The drawback was spices -- most of mine had not been replaced in years, but, my gosh, they are expensive to buy at the grocery store.I couldn't believe how much cheaper it was to buy an entire rack of spices compared to individual spices. And these are extra large bottles of very good quality, fresh spices. I was very happily impressed.According to Olde Thompson's website, the spices in any of their racks are subject to change, but, for the record, here are the spices I received:
Basil, Black Pepper, Caraway, Celery Seed, Chili Powder, Cinnamon, Coriander, Cumin, Ginger, Italian Seasoning, Marjoram, Oregano, Paprika, Parsley, Rosemary, Thyme. The rack itself is fine, nothing special. You don't see much except the spices and the handle on top, used to lift or spin the rack. This is a fantastic rack for any starting (or restarting) cook, a new homeowner, or for anyone who just needs to replace old spices.
My opinion; I think it's great.. by zuzyq from USA on 2009-07-21 For the price, you can't find anything better, the spices are fresh and smell good..you're right about the garlic powder and onion powder not included, ah well. But this little space saver works nice for small kitchens and includes many spices that can be refilled.
Spice Rack For Home. by Bo French from Meriden,Ct. USA on 2009-03-05 As Spice racks go this is a very fair price for the quality. My 4 not 5 stars was based on not recieving some spices I use allot. The jars are a good size and have a dual purpose top. It is a nice looking rack and doesn't take up to much space. You can't go wrong with this.
I wouldn't recommend purchasing this product by C. Sutton from Texas on 2009-03-04 Disappointed when the spice rack arrived. It looked great when pulling it out of the box, however it leans to the side and doesn't stand up straight. I tried to tighten the screw in the bottom, but it was already tight. If you prop it against the wall it will stand up straight. The lazy susan doesn't turn very easy either. I wish it looked as nice as it looks in the picture.
The KitchenArt Select-A-Spice Carousel is the ultimate in spice organizing holding 12 spice dispensers on a rotating base. Each dispenser has a shaker port, large mouth port and an Auto-Measure dial which dispenses a quarter teaspoon of spices with each turn of the patented dial. It comes with a mounting adapter for mounting under the cabinet or for double stacking two carousels. Spices not included!
Install this plastic spice/herb storage-and-dispensing unit under a cabinet (mount included) or place it in a cupboard or on your countertop. The carousel holds 12 dispensers and rotates 360 degrees, providing instant access to a whole shelf of spices and dried herbs. Buy two carousels and stack them with an adaptor (included) so 24 spices and herbs can be stored compactly. Each dispenser offers three methods of dispensing contents. First, an automatic measurer operates by turning a dial; with each click of the dial, 1/4 teaspoon of the selected spice or herb cascades from the dispenser's bottom. Second, each dispenser has a shaker top. Finally, each dispenser has an opening large enough to accommodate measuring spoons. (This is also the opening through which you fill the dispensers.) Forty-four stick-on labels are included; most are printed with the names of common spices and herbs, but there are six blank labels as well. --Fred Brack

A great idea, but poorly seals herbs and spices by C. Pham from Cambridge, MA on 2010-02-24 I received this item as a gift two Christmases ago, and as an avid cook, I was excited. As all the other reviews stated, the carousel conveniently organizes and dispenses.
My issue with the product is that it doesn't seal the contents well. After about a week or two, the dried herbs quickly turned brown, and spices started losing their strength. I should have anticipated this problem when my cabinets smelled much stronger of spices when I replaced my bottles with the rack.Herbs and spices are very expensive, I want them to last as long as possible. The design would benefit from rubber gaskets around the openings to truly seal the containers.I've gone back to conventional spice bottles on a rotating shelf.
It's Almost Dinner. Do You Know Where Your Spices Are? by Michelle R from Minnesota on 2010-01-20 I like to cook, but nearly every time I try a new recipe or prepare something I haven't made in a while, I find myself hunting for spices. Do I have this one? Where did I see that one? Above the stove? In the pantry? My grandmother also lives with us and is not immune to moving spices in order to help out, only to forget where she stashes them. Sometimes we end up with multiples, because the one we needed was playing hide-and-go-seek until the new one arrived. So, at least a few times a week I comment I can't stand cooking when I can't find what I need. I have no wall space for the racks that were ubiquitous in kitchens when I was growing up, and until recently I didn't have space for one that sat on the counter either. However, when stacked bottles of spice are falling you don't have apace to not come up with a better plan. So, I bought an island and I went in search of spice racks. I saw these and it was a match made in heaven. I say these, because I ordered two to stack. The racks rotate, the size of the containers are roomy, the labels are clear, and efficiency is restored. Three ways to dispense spices -- a dial that gives you 1/4 of a teaspoon with every crank, a shaker function, and a little door for measuring spoons and refills. This is pretty much everything I could want, and it could be mounted under a cabinet if preferred. With two racks, all my most used spices had a space -- and a pre-made label. The labels offer tons of choices -- fenugreek! -- and you get some blank ones too! I want people to come over and see the awesomeness that is my spice racks! ::grin::The only issue is that, while filling, the red spices tended to get under the edge of the labels and stain, but that's standard.
I own 2 of these by K. L. Estepp from Northglenn, CO on 2010-01-19 We purchased two of these in the chrome finish and couldn't be happier. We have had them for quite some time now and use them daily. They lock together when you stack them and revolve so that everything is right at your fingertips.Take the time to REtighten the screws on the bottom before you fill them and you shouldn't have any problem with the spices leaking out as some reviewers have stated. Also remember that you can't set these too close to your stove or sink.....the steam and dampness will cause your spices to get wet and clump. We LOVE them!

A Little Messy by E. Scott from Charleston, SC on 2009-01-26 I like the look of this, and that you can have it countertop or mount it under your cabinets. Mine, though gets very, VERY messy. Every time you measure out the bottom of a shaker, some dust (spice) gets stuck to it and when you put it back into the stand, it gets all over. Also, there's no option for shaking out a small amount of your spice. There's a rather large pour-hole at the top, or you can measure 1/4 tsp. amounts from the bottom. If you want to lightly dust something (like paprika on the top of something) or just add a dash, you have to pour out a 1/4 tsp, and throw away what you don't use.I'm not a huge fan.
Flimsy, all-plastic construction. "Revolutionary" pouring system doesn't work very well. by Alex Green from Toronto, Canada on 2008-12-11 Very disappointed in this purchase. The entire rack, including jars, is made of plastic. Yes, "chrome" means silver-painted plastic. Looks and feels very flimsy. Pouring doesn't work very well, it is easy to overdo it when you only need a pinch of finely ground herb.I ended up returning it and got Olde Thompson 20-Jar Wine Rack Spice Rack instead.
Excellent product and service by Shyna Hegde from Chicago,IL on 2008-07-26 I got the product in expected time, and the product is excellent. I use it everyday in the kitchen. Although I realized putting salt in it is a bummer!!.. it just keeps on flowing down.. avoid that. rest is gud.
end counter clutter by countrynut from Macomb, USA on 2006-11-20 This is a great product. Have had mine about 6 months & use it. It also can be mounted undercabinet so takes less space. Does look contemperary, but a little bit doesn't hurt my country kitchen.
Convenient spicerack for some major cooking. by Divish from on 2006-07-02 This spicerack is AMAZING! The greatest thing about it is that you can set it by the stove and you don't even have to measure as you cook. If you turn the canisters one notch, it automatically measures 1/4 tsp for you. It rotates easily around, and the canisters stay on the rack as it rotates. If you don't want to use the automeasure feature, the tops of the canisters lift open for easy pouring or sprinkling. My one and only complaint about it is that I wish it were bigger. I could use a double decker.

Excellent Item by Gautam Aggarwal from Philadelphia, PA on 2010-03-26 This is a great buy BUT the labels that come with it are not good quality, they come off very easily.
Good by R. Lehn from Gatlinburg, TN. on 2010-03-03 Product looks great and I have not had any of the problems that others have listed.I used a sharp blade to shave off any pieces of plastic on the rim from the blow molding process. The lids fit great now.
Easy to use and good looking too! by B. Disner from on 2009-07-04 Product arrived quickly and was super simple to put together. A small funnel would have made filling faster but I just closed my fingers around the opening and dumped the spices thru my finger funnel. Works great, and kind of nice to look at. Only problem is that the labels that are included, don't stick very well and keep lifting on the edges. I'm going to use my label maker to replace the original label, easy enough fix though.
GREAT! by R. Carol Swanson from Sacramento, CA on 2008-10-08 I have used these jars for years. My daughters wanted some and now they come with a turntable. I have ordered a total of four. They are GREAT!

Great Spice Rack! by Mrs. Robinson from on 2010-08-18 This spice rack is awesome! Very heavy, very sturdy, turns smoothly. Glass jars are easy to fill. I agree with previous reviewers that the plastic lids slightly cheapen the product and it would be nice if the labels included were printable and a template was available from JK Adams, but those two things were not that big of an issue to me. I think it makes it a little more personal to have the hand-written labels anyway. Glass jars are also a nice quality. Looks great on my counter top. I found that there were more snap-on plastic shaker tops than what I needed. Also, if you aren't happy with the ones included, I found that the shaker tops from Spice Island glass jars and McCormick small plastic jars fit the jars included in this set. (I used a few of the McCormick ones because they have a plastic tab you can pull up to pour the spice.) I thought it was very easy to transfer my spices to the jars that fit in the rack. (It took me about an hour to transfer my entire collection, label and alphabetize everything.) I'd definitely recommend this spice rack & I'm very happy with my purchase.
JK Adams 48 jar spice Rack by Lisa A. Morales from NW Indiana on 2010-04-01 Very pleased with the functionality of this spice rack. I can put all my spices in one place. I still find it's overpriced. Each bottle would run approx. $1 a piece to buy separately. Which means they are charging $116 for the wood holder. I can appreciate a good piece of "furniture" but this is overpriced. Please consider bringing your price down.
Great spice organizer by Mark from Virginia on 2010-03-25 Used to have to keep a flashlight near the cabinet where I stored my spices/seasonings to see the ones in the back. This substantial, well-made rack solved that problem. The rotating design makes it easy to locate any one of the 48 spices the rack contains. Pricey, but a great value in terms of quality construction and long-term functionality. Plenty of blank labels are included to hand print the off-the-wall spice/seasoning names for which there is no pre-printed label. If you wanted to dress it up, you could always go to an office supply store and buy some blank labels for your home-office printer. Buy it, you'll be thrilled you did.
Essential for serious cooks by Roni Jordan from Hanover, MA USA on 2010-03-23 This is indeed the mother of all spice racks, and an essential organizational tool for serious cooks. I've had mine for several years, and recall paying about half the current price for it - but were I in the market for this today, would gladly pay the going price. There is nothing larger or more utilitarian on the market, so I use this for 48 of my most commonly used herbs and spices, but still have some others stored in the pantry (e.g. Bay's Seasoning, black sesame seeds, spice rubs). Others have noted the inconvenience of having to print their own labels on the blanks provided, but this didn't bother me as much as having pre-printed labels for items I almost never use (fenugreek, for one). I also don't use most of the provided inner lids because I often had to remove them to spoon out amounts needed. It's easy enough to hand-print your own labels with an indelible laundry marker. The construction and materials are sturdt and beautiful, easy to clean, and requires a relatively small footprint for such a large array of items. Highly recommended as a gift to yourself or for any cook you love.
Spice Rack by R. Jackson from Dayton, Ohio on 2010-03-21 Bought the spice rack for my wife for our anniversary and she loved it. The wood is alittle light but looks great. My wife loves it and has all her spices in it with a few bottles extra (we got the 48 bottle rack).

Looks and works great. Wish the material was stronger by Christine Cheng from on 2009-10-12 I love the way this looks. I have little space in my apt. so its design was perfect to clear up some much needed space. It stores a pretty large amount (one full standard bottle you find in the supermarket) and the concept is really cool of being able to measure 1/4 tsps with a click. I don't like that in order to fill the container, you kind of have to rip off the top. The container is made of plastic and if I'm not careful I feel like I may be able to crack it. Also, if you load cinnamon in it, it leaks. I still like this product a lot since I rarely use cinnamon and I know how to be gentle loading it. I even bought a second one a few weeks later in order to stack it on top.
Rotatng Spice Rack by K. L. Estepp from Northglenn, CO on 2009-06-20 This item is used daily in our house. It makes it so easy to dispense spices. Finally a product as good as it's advertising. My only suggestion is that you take the time to tighten the small screw on the bottom before filling. This will eliminate other reviewers complaints about leakage.
Fantastic by Kim Latimer from Dallas, Texas USA on 2009-02-16 We purchased two of these a little over a year ago. Not sure how we could get by without them. No complaints or issues.
Cheaply made by Linda M. Jacobs from GA on 2009-02-10 To pay over $40 for this product is ridiculous. They make you think it is stainless steel in the title but it got to me and it was cheap plastic and the tops were hard to open, almost impossible actually. I returned the thing immediately and they received on 1/26 yet i still do not have a credit and this is the 10th. This product is the biggest disappointment i have experienced with Amazon.
spice rack by carole from on 2008-12-01 I ordered this as an add on to one that I already have and love. I needed more space so I got the second one to stack on it. Although it had the same photo and discription as the original I bought, this one has a different finish and is not the bright polished stainless steel of the original one. A bit of a disappointment. Since I really wanted the stacking unit, I will have to juggle the spice containers between the two tiers to create an alternating pattern. It is very convenient and neat as well as easy to fill.

no spices by P. Froslie from Boston,MA USA on 2010-02-19 I may be dense, but I assumed this would come with spices. The picture and price led me to believe such.I was all ready to do some good cookin' tonight, as it had just arrived. Instead I'll do some good spinning of my empty jar rack. The hardware seems nice though, but, 'what the hey'?great.
Beauty, function, durability by Eileen K Carpenter from Philadelphia, PA United States on 2010-01-09 I have had two of these for over 20 years. (I'm going to assume the quality is still the same; it appears to be from the ones I have seen in stores.) The other reviewers have covered a lot of the main issues.I purchased this because I do a lot of ethnic cooking. I didn't want a rack full of things like "Italian seasonings" that I would never use in a predetermined ratio, and I wanted the flexibility to include things like amchoor powder that never show up on pre-labeled bottles. I also wanted bottles with wide enough mouths to allow a narrow tablespoon measure to fit inside. This product was perfect for me. There are a large variety of pre-printed labels, and lots of blank ones for more exotic spices. The labels stick very firmly -- there's no problem with them peeling off. (The biggest issue after 20 years is that if I drop a bottle, the plastic lid may split. In contrast, very few of the glass bottles have broken, despite me being pretty clumsy. You can buy replacement bottles, lids and labels.) The rack turns on ball bearings and is very stable. The wood is easy to clean, but doesn't show smears and splatters the way stainless steel or acrylic would.Having labels on the top makes them easy to find in the carousel. The downside is that they're so easy to find when standing in bunches on the countertop next to the stove that it's difficult to get family members to replace them in the carousel. It would also be nice to have labels on the bottles themselves, so when you're adding a rapid succession of seasonings to hot oil, it's easy to match bottles and lids at the end. At the time I bought mine, there was no computer software for printing on the labels that come with the set, but that may have been addressed by now.As far as jars being too small -- I prefer to only fill them with the quantity I will use promptly, then store the remainder in the freezer to maintain freshness. It makes it more practical to buy the bulk spices at the Indian food stores that are so amazingly economical. It's also fun to share small quantities with friends who want to experiment with new recipes.
Cleaned up my counter top by Michael R. Simpson from Loomis CA on 2010-01-07 I like to have my spices handy when cooking, so my counter top was cluttered with 20 or so spice bottles. This carousel helped clean up the counter top and organize my spices!
MADE LIKE A GOOD PIECE OF FURNITURE by Canthespam from San Francisco, CA on 2009-05-07 I did a lot of research and pondering before purchasing this rack. I was unable to find it in a store and I was hesitant to pay that much for a spice rack, sight unseen. After reading the positive reviews here, on several other sites, and speaking to the customer service at J. K. Adams, I decided to bite the bullet and placed my order on Amazon - which had the best price.Since I use a lot of spices, I purchased two 32 jar racks in one order, rather than getting one at a time. Initially I wanted the 48 jar rack, but it was about 1/2" too tall to fit under my cabinets, and I have no space on my counter. Now I am glad I got the two 32 jar racks, I actually have some empty jars, and I can blend some spice mixtures that I have wanted to try.The racks arrived today and I am more than satisfied. The quality is what I had expected - they are beautifully made and revolve on the base smoothly.
Beautiful and functional spice rack by doctorsirena from Minnesota, USA on 2009-02-19 I have had this 32-jar spice rack for over 12 years. It was expensive at the time (and still is). It is top quality and worth every penny. JK Adams is a Vermont company that makes great products - beautiful maple wood and smooth ball-bearing turntable. The spice labels are made of a plastic and wipe off easily. The 32 bottle size allows for a nice assortment of spices. I purchase my spices in bulk at my local food co-op/natural foods store - they are much cheaper and so fresh. This rack sits on my counter and often gets compliments from visitors. I saw some cheap racks similar to this one in a discount store and they are a joke in comparison to this one.

At the top of each container are snap-open tops - a wide one for pouring and a small one for shaking. Excellent Spice Organizer by Iorganized from Germantown MD on 2010-06-20 I ordered two of these spice carousels. No more spice containers all over the place. It helps keep my family organized. Love Them!
I like it. by T. Graham from Maine on 2009-11-20 I have two of these and have stacked them.
PROS: I've had them for 4 years now and nothing has broken. It still swivels smoothly. I really like the measure aspect of them so I don't have to get out a measure spoon, just open the bottom and turn the dial. I comes with labels which is very nice.
CONS: not airtight. My powdery spices like onion powder and seasoned salt are hard as a rock now, so it works best with leafy herbs (basil, parsley, oregeno, dill etc). Using the measure dial is not so handy with larger spices like rosemary...they are too long and make turning the dial difficult and some of it gets wedged inside.
So useful! by Oleg Kharitonov from Bellevue, WA, USA on 2009-08-05 Devices like this make cooking fun. It's ridiculously easy to measure out the amounts of spices (and they are accurate: each click really IS a 1/4 teaspoon--I measured that with a real measuring teaspoon); easy to select the spice; easy to measure (bottom hatch), sprinkle (top hatch), or pour (back hatch) the spice. I always hang this under my cupboards (I move a lot) so that it's never in the way, but always close to the stove where I need it. Been using this for four years, and I still rank as one of the most convenient objects in my kitchen.
Great product everyone shoud have one. by Jonathan Brauer from Silver Spring, MD United States on 2008-11-26 Now my spice shelf is organized! I bought two of them and stacked them one on the other. Works great. Every spice I've ever used easily accessed.
