Any authentic recipes Beef Stew?

I used this recipe from allrecipes.com and my husband said he knew nothing of what it should. Please help. INGREDIENTS * 2 tablespoons oil * 1 lbs stew beef meat * 1 / 2 (6 ounces) tomato paste * 1 (10.5 ounce) beef broth can * 1 / 2 cup water * 2 cloves garlic, minced * 1 teaspoon of chili powder * 1 / 2 teaspoon ground cumin 1 / 2 teaspoon black pepper * salt to taste * 2 Chile serrano chiles, seeded and chopped 2 teaspoons DIRECTIONS cornstarch 1. Heat oil in large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook until evenly brown the meat. Remove excess fat. Add the tomato paste, beef broth and water. Season with garlic, chili powder, cumin, black pepper, salt and chile serrano. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 to 12 hours. 2. Dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of water, and stir into stew to simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.

Beef Stew 1 1 / 2 pounds stew meat 1 medium onion (chopped) 1 (14 ounces) diced tomatoes 1 can (6 oz) can jalapeno (chopped) 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 clove garlic (minced) 1 pinch salt 1 pinch pepper (can substitute cayenne, if desired for heat) 1. Brown stew meat in oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and saute for 5 minutes. Add canned tomatoes, jalapenos, cumin, garlic, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 1 hour. 2. Serve in warm flour tortillas.
